We have a great home and I love it except for one thing: It has cedar siding and needs to be painted about every 5 years. Wow, what a lot of work it is to paint an entire house (especially when it is Victorian and has 4 different trim colors).
This summer the back of the house was really peeling badly. So Jeff and I decided instead of scraping it we would power wash it.
The good news is that power washing is really, really good at removing the flaking paint. The bad news is that once you power wash your house there is lots of bare wood exposed. There is no turning back. You have to paint.
The bad news is we waited too long and missed the golden summer months of great painting weather. The good news is we got lucky and had a beautiful week of 70 degree weather in November that we took advantage of. We lucked out!
The bad news is that our house has some really high places that are impossible to reach with a ladder. The good news is we rented a lift to help reach those spots.
The bad news is I didn't have time to paint everything myself. The good news is that Jeff, Braden, and Becky pitched in and helped and we got everything painted just in the nick of time before the rain and cold weather came!
See the pictures below of our painting extravaganza!
Braden taking the gravy "ground painting"!
Me and the boys "kick'n it"
Jeff is terrified of spiders. This is his normal, "Yikes, I think I see a spider..." face.
Below, Mike using the lift in extraordinary ways.
Oh how I wish I could have afforded that nice lift that you could drive from the bucket instead of towing behind my pickup truck!
Who called "break time"? And yes, there is our dog Libby who is always ready to play fetch with a chewed-up tennis ball.
